May Crowning – An Annual Devotion to Mary

During the month of May — a month named for and dedicated to Our Blessed Mother Mary — Catholics around the world honor her through devotional services such as the May Crowning ceremony.

Each year the students and staff at St. Jude of the Lake School in Mahtomedi participate in the May Crowning. Our devotional ceremony begins with a procession of the 5th grade graduating class as well as our school’s First Communicants dressed in their First Communion dresses and suits. Family and friends share in this devotion, and all students bring flowers to honor Our Lady of Grace.

Allie H. and Kate K., from the graduating class, were selected this year for the honor of placing a beautiful crown of flowers on the statue of Our Lady of Grace during the ceremony. Thank you to all of our students and to all previous graduating classes for always presenting such beautiful May Crownings!
