April 2020, the Minnesota Independent School Forum (MISF) awarded twenty-eight STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Grants to member schools to support hands-on STEM projects to be implemented during the 2020/2021 school year. Since the program began in 2004, MISF has awarded over $1.3 million in STEM program support to advance STEM teaching and learning at private and independent schools throughout Minnesota.
St. Jude of the Lake Catholic School in Mahtomedi was awarded 2020/2021 Innovation Grant for their project, Greenhouse Gardens: Greens For Goodness. In addition to our plants growing in an aquaponics system and in indoor vertical gardens, we will be expanding our growing methods outside in a greenhouse, integrating solar energy. This amazing experience will provide students many hands-on and meaning filled opportunities to compare and contrast Earth, Physical, and Life Sciences. The possibilities for growth are endless!
